Artist’s Statement

Nature at all levels of scale excites me. I am awed and inspired by the grandeur of the cosmos as well as the complexity of nano particles.

The patterns made by complex building blocks of matter in living cells and in large volumes of gases and stones hurtling through space, are all part of nature’s “grand design”, and evidence of its mysterious working.

Winding forest paths, the flow of rivers, clouds moving in the sky, leaves falling from trees, growth of stems and tendrils, all seem random and untamed. However they are governed by complex laws nature!

The patterns change every moment, showing nature is alive. I like to capture these movements and the change. I generally use oils on canvas, and sometimes use acrylics and water colors as well.

About me

I combine a scientific temperament and artistic sensibility, having studied Physics at the graduate level at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. I have enjoyed working in the corporate sector, and balancing it with my involvement and passion for painting. I am thankful to Ms. Vijaya Bagai of Triveni Kala Sangam, Delhi, for providing me mentorship in the art world.

My paintings are influenced by my diverse experiences, and I learn continuously from my peers and from nature. I enjoy all the new forms of creative expression in the world around us, and maintain a blog called “Kreative World”, about aspects of life where I see “art at work”. I specially enjoy areas of integration and synthesis between the worlds of science, technology, mathematics and art.

I use a lot of bright warm colors, and bold strokes. I hope my work spreads some of the positive energy, good cheer, and happiness that I experience while creating them.

I live at Gurgaon, India, and have exhibited widely in Delhi and Gurgaon, including the AIFACS Gallery, Visual Arts Gallery, Triveni Gallery and the Lalit Kala Akademi Gallery.
